Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: The movie, directed by Chris Noonan, who wrote the screenplay with George Miller, takes a child's-eye view of a world that is photographed to look like a storybook come to life.
Fresh: Australian director Chris Noonan and producer George Miller show what real talent and imagination can do, even without big-name humans as costars.
Fresh: He's brave and bright, good-natured and ambitious, naive and vulnerable. All in all, he's probably the most winsome orphan to appear on the screen since Freddie Bartholomew impersonated David Copperfield 60 years ago.
Fresh: A dazzling family entertainment with enormous charm that utilizes breathtaking technical innovation.
Look beyond the cute-ness of the movie. It's a great inspirational movie.
What a great inspirational movie. We've all had those times where we allow someone to tell us we're not something we so desperately want to be. This movie will give you a positive feeling — as though you can do anything IF you put your heart, mind and soul to it. The animal characters just warm up the message. You can't help but smile at the end.
Heartwarming without being a tearjerker
So many kids movies involving animals are tearjerkers, but this one is not! It is definitely not just for children, either. I don't normally go for this kind of genre, but it is so well done, and has so many favorite scenes that I'd have to rank it in my top 20 of all time.
A classic film, no matter what your age.
This is one of those rare "family friendly" films that deserves a chance no matter what your age. It's all the better because you _can_ enjoy it with the whole family.
