About the Movie

Harris (Jack Cutmore-Scott, Dunkirk) seems to have it all—a great job, plenty of friends, and an active sex life thanks to a range of dating apps. But that all changes when he matches with Riley (Lili Simmons, Hawaii Five-0). Unlike Harris, Riley isn’t looking for a one-night-stand, and while at first, Harris just assumes she’s clingy, he’s about to find out the truth is something far more sinister. From writer-director David Chirchirillo (Cheap Thrills) comes this gripping and fresh take on the date from hell that will make you think twice before swiping.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: In its fevered low-budget way it's just clever enough to do what it sets out to do. It gives toxic masculinity its just desserts. – Owen Gleiberman, Variety, Nov 4, 2017

Fresh: "Bad Match" effectively explores the everyday horror that comes from people treating their fellow human beings as interchangeable playthings. – Noel Murray, Los Angeles Times, Nov 2, 2017

Fresh: ... Match clearly only aspires to be a thriller with a surprise or two up its sleeve. On that front, it's adequate. – John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter, Nov 1, 2017

Fresh! The critics were right this time.

Very entertaining. Not your usual stalker film.

Pleasantly Surprised

Critical ratings are based exclusively on the social/political worldview pushed in the film, not its entertainment value, story, etc. That's why I tend to skip anything the pro's are rating at 5-stars.

I'm glad I didn't overlook this one though. It was actually pretty enjoyable for the viewer, while *also* allowing the leftie critics a chance to knock "toxic masculinity" (whatever that means). A win/win for critic and viewer alike. Nice job, filmmakers!
