From the chronicles of the DC Universe comes the sweeping saga of rebirth, revenge, and redemption. Now, for the first time, witness the legend of The Dark Knight Returns, presented as an over two-hour unabridged and seamless animated feature. The days of the Batman and other noble super heroes are but faded memories; violence and despair are now the harbingers of our time. With the roving gangs and return of villains such as Harvey "Two-Face" Dent and the Joker, an aged and weathered Bruce Wayne dons the mask and cape once more. With the brave, young Carrie Kelley at his side as Robin, the Dark Knight faces off against insurmountable odds, unforgettable battles, and even the Man of Steel as he desperately fights to reclaim Gotham City. With a stellar voice cast headed by Peter Weller (RoboCop), Ariel Winter (Modern Family), and David Selby (Dark Shadows), experience the complete epic journey of The Dark Knight as never before!
A Batman story that stays true to the character!
This is a high recommend for fans as this is one of the hallmark stories in the characters catalog and one of the most influential toward shaping the Batman we know today. The two separate releases were already great but the first did suffer slightly from the obvious feeling of being only half of the story. This release rectifies that by taking both films and making them one complete ride to enjoy. The decision was smart as the narrative feels better as one complete film.
Having bought these films separately is was not even a debate buying this again as a compiled film.a warning of caution to the uninitiated: many would consider this a dark film, and though I personally feel it pales in comparison to the actual graphic novel, it is definitely not a film some would want their children to watch.
I agree. Its darker and much closer to the character Batman the dark knight then i have seen in awhile.
"The Dark Knight Returns" Recommended !!
I read Frank Millers The Dark Knight Returns in its original 4 chapters graphic novel format as it came out back in 1986. Now more than 25 years later its an animated movie. Its definitely a trip to be immersed in this adventure again. I must say its not the usual Saturday morning Batman fare and may not be for small kids but it is faithful to the source. i think Fans new and old alike can appreciate it. Bruce Timm and his team captured the right tone to preserve it well for generations to enjoy. The deluxe version is definitely the way to go. Shame it wasn't released this way originally. With both parts put together as one some might think its length for an animated movie is too long but this is the one Batman feature thats worth it. I wouldn't change a thing.
