Plot Summary

Something is coming in the night. The dark air fills with the sound of flapping wings and menacing shrieks. The night has wings and fear takes flight. Swarms of genetically altered bats have descended upon a sleepy, small Texan town and no one is safe. The only hope to stop the growing tide of bloody devastation is a zoologist who studies bats, (Dina Meyer, Starship Troopers), her assistant Leon, (Cliffhanger) and the local sheriff (Lou Diamond Phillips, The Big Hit). Bats is a jolting ride of sight, sound and fear.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Masquerading as a Halloween season horror film, this noisy version of a washed-out formula is cause for fright in only one respect: the possibility that it could spawn sequels. – Lawrence Van Gelder, New York Times, Feb 24, 2009

Rotten: A movie that's too unintentionally funny to be scary. – Christy Lemire, Associated Press, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Typically, the movie never gets around to mentioning why the government bred these genius bats. To discourage nightlife? To enforce curfews? – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Feb 24, 2009

Rotten: Without any vampires, there's a lack of material for fans to sink their teeth into. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Feb 24, 2009

Thrilling and Exciting.

This movie is very well made. Although it was released in the year 2000, I think it is still a FABULOUS movie. This movie is almost the same as the Birds.
