About the Movie

From Academy Award® winner Steven Spielberg comes this delightful fantasy about never giving up on your dreams. When a real estate developer tries to get rid of the last five tenants of a derelict tenement building, they need nothing short of a miracle to stay off the streets. But hope does arrive, in the form of tiny extraterrestrial beings that glide in through an open window. These intergalactic visitors may not speak the same language as the humans who find them, but they may be the solution to keeping everyone in their homes. Starring Hume Cronyn, Jessica Tandy and Elizabeth Peña, it’s a whimsical, funny and heartwarming journey the whole family can enjoy.

Fresh: The extraterrestrial elves, who thrive on electricity and replicate themselves out of scrap metal, are no less charming, and the special effects show them off gracefully. – Jonathan Rosenbaum, Chicago Reader, Jun 24, 2010

In a time before Michael Bay and his garbage, there were movies that were sci-fi, minimalistic and written to move. This movie is no exception to that. If you have never watched it, do yourself a favor.

Batteries not included. But feelings are.

Before a time of two dimensional characters and explosions to take place in Lou of story there was batteries not included. A story of a dysfunctional group brought together by all-too-familiar reasons and a worn out broken apartment complex sitting in the middle of assumed to be high-rise construction site. All are worn, tired, and ready to call it quits giving the apartment up to the ruthless Business owner lacy who stands to build a skyscraper and its location and his lowbrow almost piteous henchmen Carlos. However on the night when even the most resolute are ready to give up an unlikely do will of robotic aliens lands and makes use of an old shed on the roof. You feel for all of these characters, their sadness there joys, everything through beautiful use of actors and music and cinematography. The story is Innoway I send off to the old New York, it is old ideas giving form to the new age and younger less secure of the two younger apartment owners by the older no maybe not wiser Riley's. They all have their flaws but through this unlikely scenario they find themselves joined against the weakest part of the film the villain. Nonetheless I have enjoyed this movie my entire life and I would gladly tell anyone to watch this if only wants to know what it was like when sci-fi meant sci-fi not giant transforming robots and reboots.
