About the Movie

Pete is a Brooklyn DJ and musician waiting for the big break that will allow him to quit his day-job delivering beer for his girlfriend Becca’s father. When Pete finds his way into the world of beatboxing and begins to get traction under the mentorship of the lovely signer Rye, it seems that his moment to shine is just around the corner. Nothing comes easily, however. A thrilling genre, with roots in early ’80s hip-hop. Using only their mouths, b-boxers provide both the vocals and the instrumentation simultaneously. A new wave of beatbox stars has swelled through the internet, and any beatboxing competition is full of jaw-dropping skills and inventiveness. In Beatbox, Andrew Dresher has sourced some of the genre’s fiercest talents so as to imbue his film with authenticity. As with 8 Mile, our hero’s suspenseful rise from underdog status to a national finalist makes for an adrenalized fist-pump of a story—one with a soundtrack that you won’t want to stop.

This movie showcases the raw talent that is beatboxing!

The story follows a young man's pursuit of his love for creating music through beatboxing. With a backdrop of Brooklyn, New York, the visual is intimate and unmistakably urban. The raw human voices expressed as percussive beats and rhythmic sounds are mesmerizing and refreshing. Even the out takes are very cool to watch. A wonderful nod to the art and incredible talent of beatboxing!

Just finished downloading and watching...
I have to say that i loved it but am not 100% content with the ending and a few parts but i can understand the possible reasons... But the ending when Amit Bhowmick and the guys talk about beatboxing... I just reminds me of why i started also. Which i am grateful for it being in the movie. Would have loved for it to be a little bit longer with a tiny piece of beatbox history but i can only dream. REGARDLESS!!!
I APPRECIATE THAT THIS, OUR CULTURE, OUR SOUND, OUR VERBAL SOUL has this movie. Yea maybe i may sound overhyped but as i said, its part of my appreciation. Everyone involved, just have to say that i love and live this just as many others. Big up to the Director and the cast and producers. And big up to the crew at The Beatbox House. Copied and pasted from my facebook but everything i said is true from my perspective and being a beatboxer myself is really appreciative of this! The rest is really for everyone to watch!
