About the Movie
A troubled young man and his straight-laced niece embark on a thrilling odyssey through New York City in this heartrending drama based on an Oscar-winning short. As his life hits rock bottom, 20-something Richie (Shawn Christensen) decides to end it all—only to have his half-hearted suicide attempt interrupted by an urgent request from his sister (Emmy Rossum) to babysit her precocious daughter (Fatima Ptacek). So begins a madcap tour of Manhattan after dark, as uncle and niece find unexpected bonds in the unlikeliest of places. Ron Perlman co-stars in this hugely moving adaptation of up-and-coming director/star Christensen's own 2013 Academy Award-winning short, Curfew.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Throughout the movie, you have the feeling of being dragged along on an impromptu journey by a filmmaker who is traveling without the benefit of a GPS device.
Rotten: Before I Disappear is the sort of movie that can't stop reminding you how cruel the world is and how messed up its people are.
Rotten: It has the unfortunate taste of something lean that's been plumped up with empty calories.
Fresh: There's no doubting the craftsmanship behind it, even as the movie struggles to assemble the echoes of its earlier iteration into a greater whole.
TEARS OF POETIC JUSTICE
I first want to say to shawn.c that you are amazing among many other attributes that made a masterpiece! I am familiar with the short films, mainly more of the animation shorts. I feel as though many start directing and producing after they have been doing movies for quite sometime.Shawn you have directed an emotional dialogue that presents the beauty of life and the choices we make. I feel like there was some symbolic situations that played out very smoothly through out the movie. I could relate to the family, the bittersweet rival that goes on. You were great on presenting the history of how we grow up does not mean we can't change the past.As like others the fear of facing each moment and the decisions of one person allowing the growth to get the ball rolling, can change everything. The responsibility that we are left with, inspite of the way we were raised is a big one. The people that did not mold us, as i see the blame coming out years later. One person scared of what to do,and does it anyway takes courage, not knowing exactly what is going to be the outcome, that is the one action that you can nver regret.Your message was awesome, and how you touched the lives of others on this journey. We affect others with our choices, and to be taught that at such a young age for the little sis,she will never forget!!!!!!!!!!Sometimes we lose sight in the middle of nowhere, sometimes we find our place in the middle of nowhere.
Mr. Shawn Christensen,
The Mr. was out of respect. I was not aware that this movie is all you! It’s everything twistedchic
said and way more. The script, characters, actors, your direction and to top it all off, you produced
in every sense of the word. Lastly I will be looking around for the soundtrack because that was perfect too. thank you.
