About the Movie

“Being Canadian” chronicles the real-life quest of Robert Cohen, a proud Canadian, who sets off on a genuine and hilarious cross-Canada journey to prove, once and for all, that his beloved country is more than just lame stereotypes involving maple syrup and Mounties. Imagine “Sherman’s March,” but wearing a toque.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It's all pleasant enough, but the film, ultimately more of a checklist than an in-depth analysis, never really shines any fresh light on Canada's identity crisis or gets to the source of all those preconceived notions. – Michael Rechtshaffen, Los Angeles Times, Sep 17, 2015

Don't bore us, skip to the chorus

A long, drawn out movie that basically says "I have no idea why people feel the way the do, and because I'm Canadian I don't care."

Really really really bad.

Don't be fooled by the otherwise interesting celebrities included in this documentary, they are still being interviewed about what it's like to be Canadian.

I want my money back.

Super funny and surprisingly sweet

This hilarious movie answers all the questions about Canadian people you never even knew you had. And reminds you how much funny comes from up north! I really enjoyed this movie, and all the insights from Canadian celebrities like Howie Mandel, Mike Meyers and the members of Rush about why Canadians are so nice, why they’re always apologizing, why nobody cares about their country’s history, and so forth. A great date-night film.
