About the Movie

On what should be a routine rescue mission during World War II, the submarine USS Tiger Shark picks up three survivors of a Uboat attack. But for the crew trapped together in the sub's narrow corridors and constricted spaces the unexpected visitors seem to spark a series of chilling, otherworldly occurrences!

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Below may not mark Mr. Twohy's emergence into the mainstream, but his promise remains undiminished. – Dave Kehr, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Rotten: A movie that plays like a gimmick, reliant upon one's appreciation of movie genres ranging from film noir to ghost stories rather than a tale that unfolds to its own rhythms and logic. – Kirk Honeycutt, Hollywood Reporter, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Twohy pulls all the strings to create an inventive genre piece. – Robert K. Elder, Chicago Tribune, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: Twohy knows how to inflate the mundane into the scarifying, and gets full mileage out of the rolling of a stray barrel or the unexpected blast of a phonograph record. – Jan Stuart, Newsday, Jun 24, 2010
