BEST WORST MOVIE is an affectionate and intoxicatingly fun tribute to the single greatest bad movie ever made and the people responsible for unleashing it on the world. In 1989, a group of unknown Utah actors starred in what would be crowned the worst movie of all time: Troll 2. After two decades of running from this cinematic disaster, the cast can no longer hide from the legion of followers that celebrate them for their ineptitude. BEST WORST MOVIE, directed by Troll 2’s once-disgraced child star, Michael Paul Stephenson, unravels the improbable story of a sunny, small-town Alabama dentist- turned-cult-movie-icon and a self-deluded Italian filmmaker who struggles to come to grips with his internationally revered cinematic failure. The result is a hilarious and tender offbeat journey that pays homage to lovers of bad movies and the people who make them, while investigating a deeper story about the strange nature of celebrity, the catharsis of redemption and the humanity that exists in making even the worst movie ever made.

Fresh: Tries to pin down the alchemy that transports a film from reject bin to cult favorite.
Fresh: In its more amusing and accepting moments, Best Worst Movie captures the geek-joy fizz when fame morphs into notoriety, and artlessness becomes its own art.
Fresh: Somewhere, Ed Wood must be smiling.
Fresh: You might assume "Troll 2" aficionados are sarcasm-drenched hipsters, but "Best Worst Movie" argues that their appreciation is far less convoluted.
a must see!
not knowing anything about this movie, or troll 2 (the movie this documentary is based on), i went to see this at a film festival over a year ago. i remember my friend and i turning to each other half way through and smiling. we were so pleasantly surprised at how entertaining and poignant and funny and engaging this film is. i've since seen it a few more times. i have never written a review of a movie. but i love this movie so much. i just had to tell you.
Troll 2 can put a smile on your face, no matter the mood. This documentary shows how the worst movie of all time came to fruition. A must see for a fan of the cult classic.
