About the Movie

America’s battle against childhood obesity is an issue too big for many to fully comprehend. With one in three children overweight, the epidemic is sweeping our nation at an unforgiving rate. But in spite of these odds, Bite Size showcases the stories of four inspiring kids from diverse backgrounds who are fighting for their health one day at a time. Proving that it’s not just about the number on a scale, what really matters is learning what keeps you active and makes you happy.

Not your average documentary on health

At this point we’ve seen a lot of documentaries on the subject of diet and weight loss. They preach systemic change in a broken food system, but Bite Size provides real hope by presenting relatable examples individuals can emulate. We don’t have to be victims! We can be the solution! These four brave kids are such incredible inspirations. I fell in love with them when I watched the film, and I made sure to show my family. In my personal opinion, it is a much stronger and memorable film than last year’s ‘Fed Up.’

what an inspiration!

such an incredible documentary...watched it with my family and we were all both moved and entertained!

Much more than a documentary

I had the good fortune of seeing this movie a little over a year ago at a film festival. The movie is so well produced, shot, and edited. It has a clear voice and message. This is not a fat-shaming, "eat this, not that” type documentary about childhood obesity. Rather, it is a very touching story of how being overweight affects the lives of four kids (and the adults around them). These kids face the very real effects of being overweight: diabetes, bullying, self-esteem issues, the risk of shortened life expectancy, and heart problems. At the same time, though, the movie highlights how they are still children with hopes and dreams far beyond losing weight. By the end of the movie, you’re rooting for each of them - not because you want them to win some bizarre Biggest Loser challenge, but because you want them to succeed in life! I’ve already seen this movie and I am happily purchasing it to watch again with my family.
