Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Hollywood and Nollywood collaborate to underwhelming effect in Jeta Amata's impassioned but inert issue thriller. – Guy Lodge, Variety, Jan 9, 2015

Rotten: There's little going on in the final product other than good intentions, as Jeta Amata always seems overreaching for the right buttons to push. – Martin Tsai, Los Angeles Times, Jan 9, 2015

Rotten: Filled with declamatory speeches, stereotypical characters and heavily telegraphed, melodramatic plot developments, the film fails to work as either thriller or politically themed drama. – Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter, Jan 7, 2015

Rotten: Basinger, Rourke, Anne Heche, Vivica A. Fox, Akon and Wyclef Jean all appear lost or disengaged in bit parts that give a B-movie feel to a political passion project. – Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News, Jan 7, 2015

Heartfelt and moving film by Jeta Amata

Jeta Amata successfully portrays the voices of the Niger Delta while using Hollywood as a medium for people to open their eyes to the ongoing oil situation in Nigeria.

Riveting Story : Powerful Message

A real eye opener to the suffering of the people in the Niger Delta. A powerful call to attention for resolution of a devastating ecological and political crisis in the power struggle to manipulate oil for profit at the expense of lives. The director did a beautiful job of showcasing Nollywood and Hollywood talent to tell a story in a way that both Africans & the Western world would appreciate. Beautiful pictures and powerful acting. I can see why the film received so many awards and nominations Worldwide. I recommend seeking the CNN coverage and commentary. 5 Stars.
