IN THEATERS NOW! Three young women – Sarah (Kate Bosworth), Abby (Katie Aselton) and Lou (Lake Bell) – get together for a private campout at one of the iconic settings of their childhood, an empty island off the coast of Maine, to renew their bond of sisterhood. They quickly learn, though, that the island is anything but empty, when they encounter three men, who have come to the island to hunt. A misunderstanding quickly turns to tragedy, and the three women soon find themselves the targets of the hunt. What started as a simple playdate to recall old times is now a race for survival.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: The male characters here are too thinly developed for this to be a top-notch survival thriller, but Ms. Aselton knows how to get the pulse pounding.
Rotten: Aselton, you sure have a purty mouth, but what are you trying to say?
Fresh: Working from a ruthlessly efficient script by husband Mark Duplass, Aselton effortlessly sets up the women's reunion scenario before effectively flipping the action from drama to thriller.
Rotten: Black Rock upends most American action films' nativist impulses, but it never settles into satirizing or transcending them.
A great ride!
A fun, fast-paced story that takes a genre and nails it against a wall! Aselton delivers great performances from all involved and a fresh, female take on a male-dominated genre emerges. Finally we see girls who talk and react like real girls and not like Kardashians! How refreshing...
Not worth the $
This movie was not worth the $6.99 I paid to rent it.
Wouldn't watch it again.
Not terrible. Not great. No real funny parts and terribly scary either. Falls flat.
