Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: The borderline-chaotic fight scenes, set to a deafeningly loud rap-rock/heavy metal score, are directed and edited for maximum kinetic impact. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Why spend $9 on the same stuff you can get for a buck or so in that greasy little vidgame pit in the theater lobby? – Laura Miller, Salon.com, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: The only dread it inspires is in the possibility that its director prefers turning human flesh into CGI-enhanced mush over exploring genuinely frightening material. – Mark Holcomb, Village Voice, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Blade II is almost excessively violent -- OK, it is excessively violent -- but that's exactly what Snipes and Blade fans want. Believe me, they get it. – Paul Clinton (CNN.com), CNN.com, Mar 22, 2002

An immensely stylish action movie

This isn't quite as good as the first Blade, but Guillermo Del Toro is endlessly imaginative when it comes to creating new style, action, and ideas for the vampire mythology. Now the plot doesn't have much character development, but it has just enough interesting twists to keep you interested as well as entertained. And like I said, if you are looking for a movie with brains, this movie should meet your criteria, but if you appreciate brawn, this will blow you away.
