Plot Summary

Reuniting Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore and director Frank Coraci — the trifecta behind New Line Cinema's game-changing romantic comedy The Wedding Singer — this modern-day family comedy follows two single parents, Jim and Lauren (Sandler & Barrymore) who, after a disastrous blind date, can agree on only one thing: never to see each other again. They soon find themselves, however, with their respective kids from previous marriages — on the same family vacation package in South Africa. Despite all their efforts to resist, an attraction grows between the two, blending their two families into one... with hilarious results. Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Terry Crews, Community's Joel McHale, Saturday Night Live's Kevin Nealon and Bridesmaids' Wendi McLendon-Covey are also on board to join the fun.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Most of "Blended" has the look and pacing of a three-camera sitcom filmed by a bunch of eighth graders and conceived by their less bright classmates. – A.O. Scott, New York Times, May 22, 2014

Rotten: The romance is sweet and even effervescent, the comedy is homespun and sentimental, but it's packaged with such a repellent batch of stereotypes and prejudices that it's unpalatable even to contemplate. – Richard Brody, New Yorker, May 24, 2014

Rotten: The sunnier that Barrymore gets in her scenes with Sandler, the more the iffy elements and leaden bits seem to just melt away. Blend in more of that spirit, and their latest pairing might rate better. – Tom Russo, Boston Globe, May 22, 2014

Rotten: What's missing from Blended? Two key ingredients: it doesn't touch the heart and it doesn't tickle the funny bone (at least not often enough). – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, May 26, 2014

Customer Reviews

Don't Listen to the Tomatoes!!

Excellent chemistry between Adam and Drew, as always! Great story, and great supporting cast. Many laugh out loud moments. I can't wait for the movie to be available to download. Enjoy!!

Critics' don't know what their doing!

It's been my experience that if the "Critics'" say a movie is horrible, it will probably be great and if they say it will be great - it will probably stink. This movie is no exception, the critics' hate it and it's a totally awesome movie with a great family message. These two have been great together in every movie that they've been in together. So if you like family romantic comedies then you'll probably like this, so sit back and enjoy.

The Critics Are Wrong

The critics are dead wrong about this one. Maybe it's not the greatest film ever made, so what. It was funny, touching and real. There are plenty of innuendos and some topics that might be too much for younger kids. But our teenage son enjoyed it! So all in all, Blended is a very entertaining movie to watch. I will be buying this one when it is released.
