Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: A witty fusion of western, horror and comedy that gallops to its own beat. – Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times, Oct 22, 2015

Fresh: I doubt there's a huge audience for a movie like Bone Tomahawk, but those who find it may turn it into a new cult classic. – Chris Nashawaty, Entertainment Weekly, Oct 22, 2015

Fresh: A gleefully grisly genre gazpacho that matches a rousing sense of Old West derring-do to a comic sensibility as dark as chewing tobacco - and at least as much of an acquired taste. – Guy Lodge, Variety, Oct 2, 2015

Fresh: Though its cult-movie desires often show, "Bone Tomahawk" is ultimately sold by its cast, who commit fully to Zahler's discursive indulgences. – Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times, Oct 22, 2015

Delete one scene

This had the beginnings and endings of a great western. Then, one scene turned my stomach. I’ve never gotten sick to my stomach watching a western, but this one did it with one, gut wrenching scene. Totally unnecessary. A cut-away would have sufficed here.

I liked the pace and just about everything else. This one scene makes it a ‘one and done’ western. ZERO re-watchability here without an edited version.

I Loved it

I think this will be become a cut classic. What a great twist to marry two different types of film together and have work so well — and boy does it work. Characters are great an engaging and they help us as we march towards the slow-boil ending. I loved it.

Think Tombstone plus Cannibals

I loved this movie…the acting was brilliant and the western landscape was awesome. Made me want to get the horse I don’t own and ride in the wild west where I don’t live.

Russell was legit!!
