About the Movie

Somewhere deep in the New England woods, Danny lives alone in a cabin, mourning the death of his dog. He has no electricity or running water. He spends his days chopping firewood, farming and typing a mysterious manuscript. He is also gathering supplies at various hardware stores which may or may not be used to build a bomb. The word “Bonzo” literally translates to ‘Self-immolation, a ritualistic suicide practice, often used to refer to suicide by fire.’ The film is a haunting meditation on the loss of privacy, paranoia and desperation. Using contemplative cinematography, the film explores the relationship between a man, his land and the fire he knows he needs to start.

Customer Reviews

Amazing performance

Who ever the guy who plays the lead is, he’s amazing. This movie is a slow burn but if you enjoy moment to moment stories, this one is definitely worth watching.

Wonderful Film

Bonzo is a film that doesn’t come around very often. Beautifully lensed and sternly acted. Really cool film to sit and let wash over you. Slow burn but in the best way. The film really explores the type of person that can’t handle society and implodes in return. The main character is a disturbed man yet I found sympathy for him. Very well crafted film! Enjoyable!

For a very low budget film, this one carries a great deal of style. The camera work is great and the lead actor is amazing. The real problem here is the pacing. Even at such a short running time, it moves far too slowly.
