About the Movie
BREAD AND BUTTER is an upbeat comedy about looking for love, thinking of romance, and finding yourself. Amelia, a 30-year-old, is looking for her first boyfriend. Even with the help of her eccentric boss, her overbearing parents, and her best friend, her luck seems to be running out. With her nose buried in a book, she finds romance in a stranger who has left notes in the margins and soon finds herself entranced with this man. Charming, funny, and unique, BREAD AND BUTTER bills itself as the “anti-romantic comedy” as we watch Amelia navigate the book guy (Leonard) and Daniel (the delightful Bobby Moynihan of SNL) in a love triangle pitting both sides of Amelia’s romantic notions against each other. Will she choose the brooding Leonard or the affable Daniel? Will she ever find someone to butter her bread?
If you love THE OFFICE, you'll love this indie comedy
What a delightful discovery! In an age of big, broad comedies, this little indie wonder surprises with a deliciously accurate portrait of a young woman in the middle of a quarter-life crisis, in the middle of two men, trying to find herself - to hilarious results. "Bread and Butter" takes unabashed glee in every awkward moment - in the make-you-squirm brand of comedy of THE OFFICE with memorable performances all around:
* Bobby Moynihan (SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE) steals every scene he's in with undeniable laughs - and a great dramatic turn too
* Lauren Lapkus (JURASSIC WORLD, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK) plays an impeccable straight woman - another Rashida Jones in the making
* Eric Lange (LOST, FRINGE) really gets to shine here as a new agey life counselor that would make Michael Scott cringe
* and breakout performances from the lead Christine Weatherup and Michael Hauptman - can't wait to see more of them!
Mark my words - this light-hearted little comedy is the coming of the next Woody Allen.
Bringin’ the Bobby M
Honestly, there isn’t a better line in a comedy this year than the one SNL’s Bobby Moynihan utters in this film about his “gecko” — but aside from that this is a fun, quirky romantic comedy that feels fresh. Give it a try.
Great performance by Bobby Moynihan!
Bobby Moynihan is great in this, along with the rest of the cast. very sweet movie!
