About the Movie

In 1974, a misguided 19 year old named Michael Peterson decided he wanted to make a name for himself and so, with a homemade sawn-off shotgun and a head full of dreams he attempted to rob a post office. Swiftly apprehended and originally sentenced to 7 years in jail, Peterson has subsequently been behind bars for 34 years, 30 of which have been spent in solitary confinement. With an intelligent, provocative and stylized approach, "Bronson" (based on a true story) follows the metamorphosis of Mickey Peterson into Britain's most violent prisoner, Charles Bronson.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: A bit like Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange reimagined as a one-man stage show and stripped of any political implications. – A.O. Scott, New York Times, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Hardy chomps down on his once-in-a-career role with stunning ferocity and never lets go. He's extraordinary. – Gary Goldstein, Los Angeles Times, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: A pointless exercise in morbidity. – Stephen Farber, Hollywood Reporter, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Bronson is an explosive, theatrical, fourth-wall-busting project that will strike some viewers (like me) as prodigious and others as unbearably pretentious. – Andrew O'Hehir,, Jun 24, 2010

Insanely Great Film

Tom Hardy delivers an incredible performance. Surprised that I hadn't heard more about this movie but was pleasantly surprised. I want to be Charlie Bronson for damn sure when I grow up.

great acting but terrible story

Tom Hardy is amazing in this film but the character he plays is horrible. There really is no discernible plot other than this character likes to punch people and break the law.

should have been great......but totaly missed the mark

Please do not waste your money buying this film. If you must satisfy your curiosity then rent it. If you have read the book about charlies life you will be very dissapointed. This film is a wierd mix of voice overs and flash backs, and dosent tell the story well at all. Also extremely anoying opera muscic plays any time anything happens. There is apsoloutley zero charactor development or subplots, and huge huge parts of the story are completley skiped over. The fighting is very unrealistic and very obviousley choriographed. Like everyone says - Tom Hardy does a great job with his acting, but everything else in the film is totally crap
