Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: A terrific movie, just right for Steve McQueen -- fast, well acted, written the way people talk. – Renata Adler, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Fresh: Good scripting and excellent direction by Peter Yates maintain deliberately low-key but mounting suspense. – Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: Even though the story almost makes no sense and the Oscar-winning editing has several illogical cuts, Bullitt is an exquisitely satisfying motion picture, particularly if there is still an adolescent boy lodged somewhere in your psyche. – Douglas Pratt, Hollywood Reporter, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: McQueen is great in Bullitt, and the movie is great, because director Peter Yates understands the McQueen image and works within it. He winds up with about the best action movie of recent years. – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times, Jul 7, 2010

This is by far one of the coolest movies and coolest actors of all time!

Pretty Good

Steve McQueen was considered one of the coolest actors back in his day, and he definitely brings that air to the screen in this film. The story is pretty good, but the best part is the editing, including one of the greatest car chases in cinema history. Not the best movie ever, but it still merits a watch.

Best...chase...scene...ever.

This is an intriguing crime drama, and anything Steve McQueen is in is awesome, but the kicker is the car chase. A Dodge Charger vs. a Ford Mustang...that's all that needs to be said. A legendary battle on the streets of San Francisco.
