Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Capote is a cool and polished hall of mirrors reflecting the ways in which Truman Capote came to write (and be written by) In Cold Blood.
Fresh: The genius of the film, besides Hoffman's stunning performance, is that it knows exactly how much is enough. It never overplays, lingers or punches up.
Fresh: Skillfully and economically put together.
Fresh: It's a fully realized look at a time and place as well as a riveting study of career obsessions warring with a sense of justice.
PHS's breathtaking performance.
It's amazing how this guy gets into the character, it's as if he doesn't judge or hesitate when acting any character. I'd do anything to see his point of view when he's acting, or what he's thinking/practicing when doing a character. I'm only 18 years old, I'm so fasinated by this movie. It's ridiculous when kids my age are into this Miley girl, Britney music, & teen movies which has no point value. I wish they could all take some things seriously & start watching these kinds of films.
biographical portion of capote's life during the early 1060's <so not to spoil anything>... acting is off the charts, the story line -though true- keeps u completely entangled. really remarkable time for author's in hollywood.
Infamous is Better
Chalk it up to Hollywood politics that Capote and Hoffman received all the accolades and awards, but Infamous is a much better movie. Toby Jones really nails the role and the movie and does a much better job of developing the characters and the relationship between Capote and Smith. Capote is good, yes, but if the story interests you, see Infamous first.
