Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It's cluttered, goofy and incoherent from beginning to end, and much too long. – Andrew O'Hehir, Salon.com, Mar 6, 2015

Rotten: Its oddly jumbled machinery never clicks. The logic of Chappie gradually disintegrates, becoming increasingly farcical. – Jake Coyle, Associated Press, Dec 14, 2015

Rotten: The principal charm of the film arises from Chappie's ears, which prick up and droop like those of a titanium rabbit. – Anthony Lane, New Yorker, Mar 15, 2015

Rotten: A loud and unpleasant "RoboCop" rehash that gives us no one to root for and nothing to think about. – Rafer Guzman, Newsday, Mar 6, 2015

If you liked District 9 and Elysium, you will not be disappointed with CHAPPiE by any means. I saw this in IMAX and was Do NOT listen to the critics!!!! Neill Blomkamp is changing the game.

Worse than I expected

It’s been a downhill ride since District 9. Blomkamp unfortunately picks favorites over common sense. Copley, Die Antwoord, resentment of the military, and the same future Johannesburg add up to a common story. If you want a rehashed District 9, here it is. Next up, he’s going to shove Copley into a xenomorph costume for Alien 5. “I drip acid for blood yeah? Look, it’s acid right there. Acid will burn you up. It’s no joke. Acid burns the skin man. Ask him, his face was burned off. He knows. Ask him.” Face palm.

Chappie is ......

crappie.
