About the Movie
Enter the enchanting world of Pablo Valencia's CHATTY CATTIES, hailed by some as "the CITIZEN KANE of talking cat movies." Laugh along as sassy tabby Leonard (voiced by Deaf actor John Autry II) becomes increasingly disillusioned with the immature antics his human roommate, Shelby (Megan Hensley), an emotionally unstable mess whose constant drinking and inability to care for her feline roommate's basic needs threatens their happy home. But, when Shelby begins a relationship with kind-hearted musician Nate (Matthew Grathwol), Leonard sees a brighter future for himself, but it won’t come without a few emotional fireworks (and fur balls!) along the way. "I’m more of a dog person, but CHATTY CATTIES is so funny, strange and insightful, it actually made me want to go to the shelter and get a cat.
The "Citizen Kane" of Talking Cat Movies!
One of the funniest, smartest, independent films I've seen in years. Saw it first as a festival screener, and then again during its limited theatrical release last fall, and now can't wait to watch it again on August 29! Even if you're not a "cat person," I think you'll find a lot to enjoy about this truly original and unique comedy.
I saw this film when it screened at Seattle's Northwest Film Forum this past fall. I laughed really hard. There's so much to like about this movie, but my favorite thing was the relationship between Leonard (the talking cat) and Nate, the boyfriend of Leonard's human roommate, Shelby. It's an awesome bromance and also very poignant.
Hilarrious Dark Comedy
I thought this would be much lighter and goofier. Instead it is an excellent, witty, dark comedy. I didn't know what I was getting into, but I am very glad I found this.
