Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The movie chugs along for most of its 2 hours and 20 minutes searching for comedy and characters in a frantically overplotted story. – Rachel Saltz, New York Times, Aug 8, 2013

Rotten: Shetty's need to maintain his characters' romantic heroism constantly grates against his depictions of their ridiculousness. – Ronnie Scheib, Variety, Aug 12, 2013

Fresh: Khan's gift for effortlessly moving between comedy and love scenes is complemented by Padukone's striking beauty and comic chops. – Lisa Tsering, Hollywood Reporter, Apr 8, 2015

Fresh: It's just enough of a change of pace for Rohit Shetty to seem like a radical step forward without being so much of one as to be unrecognizable, as it's still funny and exciting, and the visuals pop. – Danny Bowes,, Aug 13, 2013

Silly light hearted Fun

If your in the right mood; this movie is just down right fun. The female lead is gorgeaous the classic bolloywood song and dance is entertaining. I found myself missing half of the dialogue (in the subtitles) just trying to keep up with what was happening on the screen.

Um...I seen better.

I'm gonna be brutally honest here: I love SRK, and I seriously wish that I could give this movie a good review for his sake. But......this was way too chessy and cliched. The overall plot of the story has been recyled from other Bollywood and Tamil movies and also, way overused. And with that being said, the movie does have it good points. If you are in the right mood, this movie should get a couple of laughs from you (the song parodies were hilarious, and "LOL" does not describe how much me and my parents laughed during the night scene!) It has its share of some pretty cool action and stunt scenes and the scenery was beautiful to look at, even if it did seem a bit fake at times (ex. the villages). But the dialouge was also chessy at times, and the climax was a bit cinematic (it didn't seem original).

Its a good movie and the only thing I liked apart from this movie is the instrumental soundtrack (note the word INSTRUMENTAL). I hated the songs from the movie, it was like bad Justin Beiber music (which is all of them. Sorry JB fans!) being drummed into my ears.
