About the Movie
CHRISTINE is the story of a woman caught in the crosshairs of a spiraling personal life and career crisis. Christine, always the smartest person in the room at her local Florida news station, feels like she is destined for bigger things and is relentless in her pursuit of an on-air position in a larger market. As an aspiring newswoman with an eye for nuance and social justice, she finds herself constantly butting heads with her boss, who pushes for juicier stories that will drive up ratings. Plagued by self-doubt and a tumultuous home life, Christine’s diminishing hope begins to rise when an on-air co-worker initiates a friendship which ultimately becomes yet another unrequited love. Disillusioned as her world continues to close in on her, Christine takes a dark and surprising turn. Based on true events, director Antonio Campos’ intimate and sensitive portrait of a woman on the brink is grounded by Rebecca Hall’s impeccable and transformative performance as Christine. Rounding out the supporting cast are superlative performances by Michael C. Hall (“Dexter”), Tracy Letts (“Homeland,” Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright), Maria Dizzia (“Orange Is The New Black”), Timothy Simons (“Veep”) and J. Smith-Cameron (“Margaret”).

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: By turns coolly observed and disquietingly compassionate - qualities that also describe Rebecca Hall's brilliant central performance - the movie drifts alongside its subject, Charon-like, through the hell of her last weeks.
Fresh: The narrow scope and narrow determinism of the action in "Christine" is unfortunately matched by the narrow-albeit immensely skillful and committed-acting that Campos elicits from Hall.
Fresh: A gripping, often agonizing character study with a tour de force performance by Rebecca Hall.
Fresh: Rebecca Hall gives one of the great performances of the year as the title character in Christine, an intense, stomach-churning, unblinking drama.
I know what it's like
As someone who privately struggles with mental illness & depression; I know what it's like to be misunderstood. To have nobody to talk to that will really understand. It was difficult to watch, especially at the end.
Overlooked but excellent
This is a great film. Deserves more attention than it has received.
Mature and moving character study
Christine is a film I was very much looking forward to this year. After seeing it today my expectations were met. Christine provides more than your typical biopic. Sure it tells the story of Christine Chubbuck's life for a certain portion of time but it's more concerned with her state of mind and the type of person she was and relationships she had than just telling her story. The film sought out to humanize a person that is most known for her infamous on-air suicide. It does it beautifully with props to Campos on his directing. And mega props to Rebecca Hall on an Oscar worthy performance. I didn't feel like I was watching Rebecca Hall being Christine I felt like I was actually watching Christine Chubbuck live her life. I think many people will appreciate the care and consideration taken into developing a character that not many people know about and telling her story respectfully and in a way that is entertaining!
