Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Ms. Robinson and Ms. Howell have kitted out their movie handsomely, but there's not enough story here or enough anything else, namely a persuasive psychological portrait of Claire, to make up for that lack.
Fresh: Brandt impressively limns a character whose intelligence and complexity are always evident, along with a sometimes dislikable brittleness.
Fresh: [A] somber and quietly affecting psychological mystery ...
Rotten: In a mostly severe mode, Brandt carries the film well. But there's only so much she can do with the open-ended, underwritten script.
I would have felt better about the rental, had it been a $.99 rental. The acting and subplots characters goes nowhere and follow an unclear script that ultimately develops into unanswered questions.
The characters emotionally respond to a sitation. Thats the movie. The emotions are not strong. They are not unique to character but general responses you might expect. There is no particularity. The roles are all types and not deeply felt. The metaphors have been met before and been more rooted. Claire is not in motion. She has no agency and no will.
The acting was good however the storyline was below average. No real ending!
