Oscar-winning actresses Olympia Dukakis and Brenda Fricker as Stella and Dot, an aging couple who escape from a nursing home in Maine and drive to Nova Scotia on a quest to be legally married. Stella and Dot have been together for 31 years and have faithfully accompanied one another through life's ups and downs. Now in their seventies, Stella is hard of hearing and Dot is legally blind. En route to Canada, they pick up a young hitchhiker, Prentice, a small-town boy turned modern dancer, who is returning to Nova Scotia to visit his dying mother. Despite his bravado, Prentice is a confused and wounded soul who has much to learn from Stella and Dot as they wage their own unexpected battle after three decades - to keep their family together. With equal parts humor and grace, Cloudburst explores the important themes of life, death and love through the eyes of this oddball trio.

Fresh: An affectionate twist on a classic tale of lovers on the lam, sprinkled with renegade hints of Thelma & Louise, Cloudburst is a life- and heart-affirming journey.
Fresh: It's a delight to see Olympia Dukakis and Brenda Fricker, superb talents and Oscar winners both, share almost every frame of Cloudburst.
Fresh: A rough-edged Olympia Dukakis steals much of this comedy road movie about two ageing lesbians who go to Canada to get married. Enjoyable, but unremarkable.
Excellent performances and a wonderful account of a true love story. It' s relevant to our time and stands out in my mind as refreshing. A lovely, heartwarming relationship

Thankyou for making such a beaut.
Worth the wait to finally see this afternoon.
The true meaning of love is waiting 31 years to be married, making that commitment and sticking to it. Olivia is unforgettable. And now that we are beginning to have equal rights, the story is still relevant. You will laugh and cry throughout the whole film.
