About the Movie
Based on an incredible true story, Coach Carter is the inspirational account of controversial basketball coach Ken Carter (Academy Award nominee Samuel L. Jackson), who received both high praise and staunch criticism when he made national news for a gymnasium "lockout" of his entire undefeated team for poor academic performance. With the players, the parents, and the community rallying to get the team back on the court, Carter must overcome the obstacles of his environment and show the young men a future that stretches beyond gangs, drugs, prison and even basketball.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Carter gives every sports-drama cliche a chance to play. No bad idea is benched.
Fresh: One of those highly effective conventional pictures that remind us that conventionality isn't always a bad thing.
Fresh: By the time you leave, Jackson will have you believing that his Coach Carter is a true original.
Fresh: The basketball footage is often thrilling, the camera whooshing through the action like a darting point guard.
Just plain GREAT!
I saw this movie 4 months before it was released in theatres at a event called ShowEast. And I feel in love with it. Except for the version that I saw was the Director's Cut. Hopefully they release it, cause they edited a lot of stuff. But I still love the movie no matter what!!!!
amazing movie really good has good life lessons and is also good for any sports fan, whether or not they life basketball.
This movie is definently one of the best basketball movies of all time. It shows how one person unit a team and a school that is located in a very ghetto neighborhood. Most of the players have very bad backgrounds and basketball is pretty much all they have going for them. Coach Carter turns the athletes into men and changes the community. Its a very inspiring movie to everyone. Next time you think you have it bad watch this movie and be thankful for everything you have.
