About the Movie

Gloria (Anne Hathaway) is an out-of-work party girl who, after getting kicked out of her apartment by her boyfriend (Dan Stevens), is forced to leave her life in New York and move back to her hometown where she's reunited with her childhood friend (Jason Sudeikis). When news reports surface that a giant creature is destroying Seoul, South Korea, Gloria gradually comes to the realization that she is somehow connected to this far-off phenomenon. As events begin to spin out of control, Gloria must determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world. Experience the wildly original film critics are calling, "a great deal of fun" (New York Times).

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: With a few trims the film could be entirely different and blandly realistic ... But "Colossal" wants more. – Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune, Apr 13, 2017

Fresh: Vigalondo extends our modern egotism and entitlement - the idea that my problems are the world's problems - until it becomes the stuff of surreal farce, and then he brings it back down to size. – Ty Burr, Boston Globe, Apr 13, 2017

Fresh: It's a brilliant concept, executed by writer-director Vigalondo with a perfect balance of pop-culture irony and sincere storytelling. – Rafer Guzman, Newsday, Apr 13, 2017

Rotten: Surprisingly bland throughout but still manages to leave a sour taste. – Adam Woodward, Little White Lies, May 19, 2017

Fresh, funny, nice twist

One of the way better movies I've seen in a while. Highly recommend it. It's funny and has a twist that makes it even more interesting. Don't think twice about watching this movie - just get it. You'll enjoy it.

Hard to judge, really

It's not really a comedy and has a really dark side. It's not really going to make you laugh consistently, but it will definitely stick with you. More like a character study of a likeable loser who wakes up with more responsibility than she should have. Jason Sudekis steals the show this movie. What a performance.

I really enjoyed this film

It's original, funny, twisted, just watch it. It's refreshing to see original movies nowadays. 🙌🏻
