About the Movie
In this early action classic that features his unique blend of thrills and offbeat humor, Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as Col. John Matrix, ultimate soldier and one-man army. Matrix, the former leader of a special commando strike force that always got the toughest jobs done, is forced back into action when his young daughter (Alyssa Milano) is kidnapped. To find her, Matrix has to fight his way through an array of punks, killers, one of his former commandos, and a fully equipped private army. With the help of a feisty stewardess (Rae Dawn Chong) and an old friend, Matrix has only a few hours to overcome his greatest challenge: finding his daughter before she's killed.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The big battle scenes are especially disappointing.
Fresh: Chong lights up the film like a firefly, Schwarzenegger delivers a certain light touch of his own, [and] the result is palatable action comics.
Fresh: Comic book stuff, helped out by the presence of Rae Dawn Chong as an airline stewardess whose sarcastic commentary adds some comic counterpoint to the deliberately overscaled action.
Fresh: One of the better, if less intelligent, arguments for a 1980s revival.
Wow nearly 70% fresh
I would expect something in the low 20-s from rotten tomaterds. This is one of the ex governators classics. 200+ body count at least. If you count General Perez's armed goons that were sleeping in the barracks when Matrix blew them up. I miss the yolked Schwarzenegger. This movie also offers up the classic bad guy line, "This used to be a good place for huntin slash" . Buy it so itunes pursues the rights to MORE CLASSIC 80S FILMS!
Hilarious - must see.
This movie is probably not meant to be a comedy but it plays like one. Certainly not the bad kind of action movie that makes you cringe and want to yell out "come on!" but rather the type of action that just so over the top, so unreal, so Schwarzenegger, that you can't help but enjoy it. Whether it's ripping apart forged steel chains with his bare hands, standing out in the open with dozens of machine-gun armed soldiers shooting point-blank without ever hitting him, the ludicrous superhuman stunts or the classic 80's one-liners you won't be disappointed.
