About the Movie
Inspired by true events, Compliance tells the chilling story of just how far one might go to obey a figure of authority. On a particularly busy day at a suburban Ohio fast food joint, high-strung manager Sandra (Ann Dowd) receives a phone call from a police officer saying that an employee, a pretty young blonde named Becky (Dreama Walker), has stolen money from a customer. Convinced she’s only doing what’s right, Sandra commences the investigation, following step-by-step instructions from the officer at the other end of the line, no matter how invasive they become.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Compliance's underlying humanism and political conscience lift it beyond being a macho endurance test.
Fresh: Compliance is one of the toughest sits of the movie year 2012. But it's an uncompromising and, in its way, honorable drama built upon a prank call that goes on and on, getting worse and worse for the people on the other end of the line.
Fresh: Zobel, a second-time feature filmmaker, has put together a skillful, sympathetic but unsparing re-enactment of a small-scale atrocity, and his cast plays it out with natural, understated performances.
Fresh: Like a John Hughes movie hijacked by Roman Polanski, this troubling indie effort lays bare the sadomasochism of the American workplace.
Like a " Snuff " movie, I want my money back !
Most of all be warned that this is a really sick Program/ movie. Stopped it at about 10 or so minutes in, extremely upset, and today I will spend whatever time it takes talking with I tunes about this. The implications of even selling something like this, and anyone knowingly being involved with such a sick movie are indicative of where Apple is at
Not an uplifting film
I watched the building of events, which was somewhat suspenseful early on. Once it turned emotionally horrid, I fast forward to the final scenes. It was uncomfortable to say the least.
COMPLIANCE unearths the uneasiness we feel about those who have followed orders - even when those orders go against common moral principles. The film is calm, orderly, mundane (for a purpose) and ever so chilling. I don't want to give anything away, but I would suggest YOU NOT read about the true events the film is based upon, as it will be a spoiler. Also - great cast.
