Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: All of the principals normally work in films more interesting and human than this one, which gives Con Air a touch of the subversive and turns it into a big-budget lark.
Rotten: They're 'the worst of the worst.' So's the movie.
Rotten: Massaging every demographic, this admittedly fast, funny and robustly acted progeny of The Rock exploits actions of killers and rapists -- then cynically sells family values with a lengthy wrap-up ballad.
Fresh: Rosenberg's sarcastic, tough-guy dialogue is full of lean-and-mean one-liners, and the superbly cast actors know how to milk them for all they're worth.
Quite possibly my favorite summer movie of all time
Let me start off by saying that for a movie like this, the cast is HUGE. In this B action movie we are given no less than Ving Rhames, John Cusack (in a rare action movie appearance), Danny Trejo, Steve Buscemi, Mykelti Williamson (Bubba from Forrest Gump), Colm Meaney and Dave Chappelle before he was DAVE CHAPPELLE. The cast was either in major need of a paycheck or just in the mood to have a lot of fun because no one in this movie phones it in. The movie itself never tries to be anything more than what it promises, a big, noisy popcorn flick and on this level, the movie scores.
define irony: a bunch of idiot's on a plane dancing to a song made famous by a band that died in a plane crash. if you have not bought this movie on dvd then buy it on itunes, if you have not bought either there is something seriously wrong with you.
This a very good action movie. it's the kind of movie you can watch over and over agin and stil enjoy it. it's defiantly worth $10.
