About the Movie

Will Smith stars in Concussion, a dramatic thriller based on the incredible true David vs. Goliath story of American immigrant Dr. Bennet Omalu, the brilliant forensic neuropathologist who made the first discovery of CTE, a football-related brain trauma, in a pro player and fought for the truth to be known. Omalu’s emotional quest puts him at dangerous odds with one of the most powerful – and beloved – institutions in the world.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: While "Concussion" has some fine things going for it, notably science and Will Smith, it lacks the exciting, committed filmmaking that rises to the level of its outrageous topic. – Manohla Dargis, New York Times, Dec 25, 2015

Rotten: Landesman has pushed too hard to make this story fit into a dramatic mold, alternating melodrama and romance with those earnest warnings in a way that is more ungainly than effective. – Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times, Dec 24, 2015

Fresh: As Omalu, Smith gives an emotional performance, bolstered by capable supporting players. – Stephanie Merry, Washington Post, Dec 24, 2015

Fresh: Concussion's dramatic core is solid and its unwillingness to sugarcoat the NFL's tactics is likely to raise some eyebrows. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Dec 24, 2015

The entire premise of the movie that we should care about CTE b/c its the cause du jour of the NFL is lame. Bad things happen to ordinary people every day. So, yeah, bad things happen to NFL players too.

Yes, yes I'm a fan of the NFL, so sue me. Health and safety are huge and I would never seek to diminish that fact. This however is a movie and I am doing nothing other than reviewing it. I don't need to bother getting into great detail, you needn't look any further than will smith. Will smith as an actor is TRASH. This role needed to be played by Idris Elba or hell even Morgan Freemna. Smith is stiff and robotic in all his characters and we can forgive it in a comedy, but in the dramatic role he failed miserably

Love it

I actually love this movie one of the best this year.
