Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: The ending's a vague cop-out, but the movie is much smarter and more nuanced than the late-night-Cinemax setup suggests. – Leah Greenblatt, Entertainment Weekly, Oct 4, 2013

Fresh: If you're looking for a marriage movie that's friendly, upbeat and reassuring, I suggest you keep on looking; if you want a startling debut film that merits comparison with Ingmar Bergman, Woody Allen and Nicole Holofcener, here it is. – Andrew O'Hehir,, Oct 7, 2013

Rotten: This might sound, at the very least, titillating, but "Concussion" is anything but. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Oct 17, 2013

Fresh: Passon's portrayal of sexuality is not so much fluid as it is open, a frankly refreshing way of seeing. – Daniel Walber,, Oct 7, 2013

Keep it moving

It's not a bad movie, but considering the material they had, not a good one. Shot well, they obviously had a nice size budget, good subject matter, so why didn't it pan out? Let me sum it up: bored, well off (very well off) Suburbs Mom, not getting enough in the sheets, has an affair, gets off on it, wants to continue the buzz she's feeling so she turns tricks, gets caught, and because allllll their other friends have broken up looses nothing, goes back to being a Suburban Mommy, still "searching". There. You have now watched the movie. TRUST ME, keep it moving

You'll Be Thinking About This One

@HeyFoo- Seriously? That's all you took away? We're not watching strictly for plot here. This film is a piece of art.

A liitle Belle de Jour

A bit of a modern day Belle de Jour with a concussion as the catalyst. Suburban lesbian housewife leading a life of quiet desperation. An intriguing look at marriage, monotony/monogamy, boredom and our expectations. Stacie Passon and Rose Troche have created a truly beautiful film.
