About the Movie

Eisenhower is President. Rock 'n' Roll is king. And Wade "Cry-Baby" Walker is the baddest hood in his high school. Johnny Depp heads up a super cool cast as the irresistible bad boy whose amazing ability to shed one single tear drives all the girls wild - especially Allison Vernon Williams (Amy Locane), a rich, beautiful "square" who finds herself uncontrollably drawn to the dreamy juvenile delinquent and his forbidden world of rockabilly music, fast cars and faster women. It's the hysterical high-throttle world of 1954 in director John Waters' outrageous musical comedy.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Mr. Depp, who smolders naturally when he isn't trying so hard, acts this role about as well as Elvis would have; under the circumstances, that's fine. – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Jun 20, 2009

Rotten: There are some funny moments, but this may be the first time the director's scabrous, anarchic wit seems vaguely depressed. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Jan 20, 2015

Fresh: The wizard of odd still runs amok. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Jan 21, 2015

Fresh: Waters' hole card is Johnny Depp, the winsome tough from TV's 21 Jump Street, who radiates big- screen grace and swagger as Cry-Baby -- no easy trick, since he is guying his own image. – Richard Corliss, TIME Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

A great movie

This movie rules. It's awesome. It's a musical, but no one sings their own songs! So awesome! There are a couple of 'awkward' parts, but it's John Waters, what do you expect? - They aren't that bad anyway. Johnny Depp is amazing as Cry Baby Walker. He's cute, funny, charming, yet he's a total 'bad boy'. He's so young in this film... Great movie, i recommend for any Depp fan, musical fan, or just someone who wants to watch a good, funny movie.

"I'm burnin' inside to touch you, babe!" Best line in a movie. Ever.

love this movie

I love Johnny Depp and loving this movie is a no-brainer. It's by John be prepared. I personally had no problem with any of it, but that's why I took off one star.
