Emmy Rossum (The Phantom of the Opera), Zach Gilford (TV’s Friday Night Lights) and Ashley Springer (Teeth) head up a stellar cast including Ana Gasteyer (Mean Girls), Rooney Mara (A Nightmare On Elm Street), comedienne Sandra Bernhard (TV’s Roseanne) and Alan Cumming (X2: X-Men United) in this captivating story of high school seniors at the crossroads of their adult lives. When a pompous actor tells good girl Alexa (Rossum) that she hasn’t lived, she embarks on a bold journey that takes her to mysterious bad boy Johnny (Gilford). Envious, her shy best friend Ben (Springer) also dares to pursue Johnny, complicating Alexa’s romance and pushing the boundaries among the three friends.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Dare feels a bit unfinished, at once overreaching and underrealized. But there is a lot of intelligence, and considerable daring, in the basic conceit.
Rotten: The actors, all great camera subjects, help give director Adam Salky's overly pat movie a trace of confessional conviction.
Fresh: The film lacks the comedic charm of American Pie, but with its dark, hyper-sexualization of teens, it offers an engrossing if not soap opera-esque tale of self-discovery.
Fresh: Dare is a high school coming-of-age film that dares to push the envelope. It doesn't always succeed, but that's not for lack of trying.
Surprisingly Unpredictable, Clever and Fun!
This was one of my favorite movies from Sundance, so glad it's on iTunes now! Zach Gilford is great and the whole film really rocks. It's an edgier, smarter John Hughes for the 21st Century...
I love Emmy Rossum!
She's beautiful with a brilliant singing voice, and amazing acting chops! I can't say more about her talent, and I wish iTunes would advertise this surprisingly edgy film to everyone else to see. A film about friendship, tolerance, and taking a risk to make it through the next stage. And of course, the performances from Emmy Rossum, Zach Gilford, and the rest of the cast is not to be missed! The only problem is that I didn't want this film to end. The story might be controversial to some, but it's life lessons to be learned.
so, the world is beautiful
honest, funny, sexy, edgy and all beautifully executed. great performances from all, Gilford was especially fantastic. moving chemistry and a story that will stay with you. real, and really shows the beauty of what most think is common-place. I especially loved the success of telling a story through the eyes, not all through action. love it.
