Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Just as Robert Downey, Jr. has become the definitive Iron Man, Ryan Reynolds is Deadpool. It's the role he was born to play and whenever he's on screen, the movie's inner classic shines forth. – Matthew Rozsa, Salon.com, May 19, 2018

Fresh: Deadpool 2 is an R-rated, potty-mouthed splatterfest and a funny one. – Bob Mondello, NPR, May 24, 2018

Rotten: For all the impulsive flamboyance of Deadpool's patter, the liberating power of personal virtue, and the disinhibiting promise of second chances, "Deadpool 2" feels narrowly impersonal and oppressively unfree. – Richard Brody, New Yorker, May 18, 2018

Fresh: Despite lacking the freshness of 2016 feature, the sequel is funny, energetic, and determined not to take itself seriously (even when serious things happen). – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, May 16, 2018

Deadpool 2

DON'T CALL IT A COMEBACK, well it is. It is a comeback, but in all the right ways...and a couple wrong ones. Okay, let me explain. Deadpool 2 is great. It is. It's great. It's funny, it's action-packed, it's got a surprising amount of heart, but it's a mess at some times. The bad first, but before that, go see it, it's worth your money, I swear. Alright...the bad. About a third of the jokes in this movie are recycled from the first one. This works for and against it as some of the jokes are still funny, but other times it feels like they're trying to hard or got lazy. There's actually one joke towards the end that goes on a bit too long and you beg it to end. Think Taserface but somehow more painful. The second part the aspects of the story. The story is not as pure as the first one; while the first one was pretty straightforward, this one was a bit messy and some of the shock of seeing a rated-r superhero movie is lost because of it. But the story is still a pretty solid one. NOW...on to the good parts. The acting is solid all around. Ryan kills it as Deadpool. Brolin is a great Cable. Miller is funny. Peter. The action is well shot and well coreographed, but that's because it's from one of the guys who did John Wick, so don't be shocked. There are plenty of really smart jokes in the movie that will leave you dry heaving, that I can guarantee. Also, this is a sad movie in some parts and you will be caught off-guard, so...yeah, be ready for that. In the end, Deadpool 2 is a solid sequel that does a whole lot better than the first, but does things worse than the first. Two steps forward. Two steps back. In my opinion it is because of this that Deadpool 2 is ironically just as good as the first, but for the right and wrong reasons. I will say this, I do recommend you watch it, then watch it again, because I still love it, despite some of its flaws. I'm glad its here, and I'm glad they pulled it off.

A fun and hilarious experience.

Althought i love the first one, this film is probably better then it. It's full of laughs creative moments. Also, please wait for the post credit scene as it is very hilarious.
