About the Movie
From Jonás Cuarón and Alfonso Cuarón, the acclaimed filmmakers of Gravity, comes the modern, heart-pounding suspense-thriller starring Golden Globe winner Gael García Bernal (Mozart in the Jungle, Y Tu Mamá También) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead, Watchmen). What begins as a hopeful journey to seek a better life becomes a harrowing and primal fight for survival when a deranged, rifle-toting vigilante chases a group of unarmed men and women through the treacherous U.S. - Mexican border. In the harsh, unforgiving desert terrain, the odds are stacked firmly against them as they continuously discover there’s nowhere to hide from the unrelenting, merciless killer.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Is it a cautionary tale for would-be border crossers, or an indictment of anti-immigrant rage? Doesn't matter; the gory unpleasantness overrides everything else.
Fresh: [An] overly simplistic but effectively tense nail-biter.
Fresh: A brutal and merciless chase thriller that makes no apologies for its political one-sidedness and visceral extremity.
Fresh: A generic thriller that happens to be wrapped in political packaging. That packaging is sometimes more interesting than the thrills themselves.
Waste of time.
Completely exaggerated work of stereotypical politically driven fiction
Jeffery Dean Morgan and the rest of the cast have no idea how to use that rifle. They don't even use it consistently...and a nice rock would have taken care of that dog a short time in.
The backdrop is ruggedly beautiful, and the storyline has potential of a good thriller with good acting. Without giving anything away, it falls apart in the end as their portrayal of the villain is not in line with his persona. As if the storytellers don't understand this type of villain and perhaps this movie wasn't intended for a broad audience.
