About the Movie

What if the ghastly images and abominations haunting our collective nightmares actually exist? Writer/director Adam Green sets out to make a documentary exploring this tantalizing premise after being contacted by a mysterious man named William Dekker (Ray Wise). Dekker claims he can prove that “monsters are real” and insists these grotesque creatures are forgotten, hideously deformed humanoids inhabiting a vast, underground metropolis of the damned. Determined to expose the truth, Green embarks on a bone-chilling odyssey and gets more than he bargains for when he dares to go Digging Up The Marrow.

Rotten: Digging Up the Marrow is a playfully self-reflexive exercise whose endless in-jokes will best be appreciated by only the most ardent genre aficionados. – Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter, Feb 19, 2015

Rotten: Here's hoping Green's next film is just 90 minutes of Ray Wise talking to an imaginary friend. – Simon Abrams, RogerEbert.com, Feb 20, 2015

Fresh: Much of Digging Up The Marrow plays like Green's love letter to his fans and to the importance of fandom in genre filmmaking. – Ignatiy Vishnevetsky, AV Club, Feb 19, 2015

An Original Horror Masterpiece

A wonderfully original film that shows just how much a fantastic story & brilliant performance can truly revitalize an otherwise tired style of film-making. Make no mistake, this is not your typical "found footage" or "mockumentary" by any stretch of the imagination but rather a breath of fresh air for horror fans and an exercise in genre-bending film-making in the best possible way!

Having followed Adam Green & Alex Pardee as they ventured into & back from The Marrow, I can honestly say that I couldn't be happier with the film. Highly recommended!

Wow, Truly Original

I did not see that coming. Excellent. Excellent. Terrifying in ways no other film has ever been.

Disappointing

I was really hoping for an amazing movie. But the whole movie is just people talking about monsters and then there’s probably a minute of actual creatures. This movie is boring and builds up to nothing. It had so much potential too. I love Alex Pardee’s art and I would have like to see more of it in a movie. I hope they make a sequel and have more action in it.
