Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: While retaining his boyish appeal, Mr. Fox also seems a shade more substantial this time, possibly because he is seen making life-or-death decisions when not fielding comic lines.
Rotten: Has no real taste of its own, but, in its mildness and predictability, offers the reassurance of a fast-food or motel chain.
Fresh: Dialogue and plot and all the rest take second place to the conviction that two people only have eyes for one another. Fox and Warner create that feeling, which is why "Doc Hollywood" is a sweetheart of a movie.
Fresh: The whole thing bubbles along nicely in a fresh, witty, unselfconscious manner, making you forget the dated Capra-corn message.
I've seen this movie at LEAST 25 times and it never gets old! It is truly one of Michael J Fox's best movies!
A funny feel good movie...
Doc Hollywood is quite funny in my eyes because I come from a small midwestern town very similar to the one Doc Hollywood ends up in. The small town comedy is one that I find quite funny because it is so very true. Michael J. Fox and Julie Warner put on quite a love story mix up and the dialog is quite good. The movie also features some great small town actors including the mayor and town doctor. This is fun must see movie for anyone who enjoys a romantic comedy.
