Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: The role of Dolores may be rough around the edges, but it's a windfall for Ms. Bates, who does a walloping good job. – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Sep 5, 2017

Fresh: Deftly cutting between the past and the present, director Taylor Hackford manages to establish a compelling mood and pace even though the pic lacks a thriller's true "Aha!" moment. – Brian Lowry, Variety, Sep 5, 2017

Fresh: The mysteries of "Dolores Claiborne" are never gripping enough to consume an audience, and there are few, if any, surprises along the way. But the women are wonderful and reason enough to see the picture. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Sep 5, 2017

Another great movie on iTunes

I first saw this movie in April 2008. It was easily one of the greatest movie's I have ever seen. The acting is perfect and the writing is insanely awesome. I also really love how in the present, the lighting is dark and blue/purple tinted, and in the flashbacks, it is bright and yellow/orange tinted.

One of the Best!

Probabaly the best stephen king adaptaion. Great movie!

One of the Best

Kathy Bates is truly one of the greatest female actors of our time...and this film lends considerable weight to that assertion. Jennifer Jason Leigh is truly underrated. Her performance in this film was nothing short of brilliant. This is probably the best Stephen King adaptation ever made. Misery was outstanding, but it is still overshadowed by the novel. This film stands equally beside King's masterpiece. I never get tired of watching this film.
