About the Movie
That rare phoenix, Joe Roth came to Cal in 1975 as a melanoma survivor and led the Golden Bears to a Pac-8 Championship. A Heisman Trophy favorite in 1976, Joe's story took an unexpected turn when his cancer returned during the season. Not only did he continue to play, but Joe kept his deteriorating condition a private matter. His personal battle is, quite simply, the greatest secret in the history of college sports and the courage, dignity and grace with which he lived his life transcendent. Don't Quit: The Joe Roth Story is the authorized documentary that chronicles his remarkable life.
Have a Joe Roth type day
Great film, well done. Amazing story, need more people like Joe Roth - humility, class and character defined.
Must see film
This is an amazing film that looks like a football story but is really about the human spirit. As the story develops, you realize that Joe Roth is the exact kind of human being we all want to become: kind, humble, courageous and a friend to all. The well told story moves quickly as we see the skills he had as a quarterback before the film turns poignant as we learn about his greatness as a person and how he dealt with mortality through his twice fought battle with cancer. Those who appear in the movie are all clearly moved by his memory more than 30 years after he died. Those who watch the film will be, too. Highly recommend this well made doc to anyone who wants to be inspired.
This documentary is incredibly produced, it shines the light on an amazing person who can inspired us all. It is a moving and uplifting story. A must see!
