About the Movie

From Academy Award winner Alexander Payne (The Descendants, Nebraska) comes an entertaining and heartfelt comedy. When scientists find a way to shrink humans to five inches tall, Paul (Academy Award winner Matt Damon) and his wife Audrey (Kristen Wiig) decide to ditch their stressed out lives in order to get small and live large in a luxurious downsized community. Filled with life-changing adventures and endless possibilities, Leisureland offers more than riches, as Paul discovers a whole new world and realizes that we are meant for something bigger. Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained) also stars in this wildly imaginative and original film.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It's the rare movie that seems to execute every part of its concept absolutely wrong; a narrative, tonal, visual and sociopolitical fiasco the likes of which haven't been seen in many moons. – Andrew Lapin, NPR, Dec 21, 2017

Fresh: There's no doubt about one thing: the director's considerable talent is on full display here. Let him keep shifting; we'll keep watching. – Jocelyn Noveck, Associated Press, Dec 21, 2017

Rotten: The film, having launched a sprightly comic conceit, lets it glide away. – Anthony Lane, New Yorker, Dec 26, 2017

Fresh: Damon is in prime everyman mode as Paul, a good guy with a good heart who wouldn't mind catching a break, a big break, just once. – Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times, Dec 21, 2017

One Star is Overly Generous

I do not often post reviews however I just came from the movie theater after buying the tickets to this movie. Dreadful. It is an interesting concept for a movie, but failed to live up to its promise. The casting was bad and the acting was awkward - even Matt Damon’s performance did not impress.

Don't watch!!

I was very excited for this movie and was interested by its concept. The movie starts off quite well tell you start notice that its getting worse and worse. The movie consept its self was great but they did not know at all how to exicute it. The movie took me to different places every 30 minutes and it felt like it couldn't get worse, oh but I knew I was wrong when they started a love scene. Over all terrible movie and I wish they could of made it better.

Going into the theater I was excited, but after sitting through almost three hours of straight boringness and lack of climax, this movie made me want to never see another Matt Damon movie. People actually got up and left in the middle of the movie it was that bad. It is nothing like the trailers, and all the good actors are only in a fraction of the movie. It was a waste of my money and time and I 100% regret seeing it.
