About the Movie

Winner of four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress (Jessica Tandy), and receiving more nominations than any other movie that year, this is the touching tale of an unusual quarter-century friendship between an eccentric elderly Southern Jewish matron and her loyal, black chauffeur. Starring Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman ("Million Dollar Baby," "The Shawshank Redemption") and Dan Aykroyd ("Ghostbusters"), co-starring Patti LuPone (TV's "Life Goes On") and Esther Rolle (TV's "Good Times") and directed by Bruce Beresford ("Tender Mercies"). The Today Show says it "comes close to see it once is to remember it forever..." Selected by the prestigious American Film Institute as one of the 400 greatest American films of all time.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: There is an exhilarating, singularly theatrical lightness of touch that is often lost when these settings are made manifest in a movie. – Vincent Canby, New York Times, Jan 6, 2014

Fresh: Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman give exceptional performances – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Jan 6, 2014

Fresh: This is Tandy's finest two hours onscreen in a film career that goes back to 1932. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Jan 6, 2014

Rotten: Ultimately this is an intelligent feel-good movie that had Oscar material stamped all over the screenplay, but lacks the bite or insight that could have turned it into something truly special. – Film4, Jan 6, 2014

Really good movie

This is a really good movie, however it is not as good as Jack Black's version in Be kind Rewind! HAHA!!!

One of my favorite movies of all time. Why did the other reviewers compare this movie to Be Kind, Rewind? It has nothing to do with it and one has no reason to be cast in another's shadow. They're two completely different movies.

Driving Miss Daisy

This movie was inducted as one of the best 400 movies of all times for a reason-it is about friendship and love, something we can all relate to.It's a great hour and a half of your life spent watching it.
