Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Several of the characters in Dune are psychic, which puts them in the unique position of being able to understand what goes on in the movie.
Rotten: Most sci-fi movies offer escape, a holiday from homework, but Dune is as difficult as a final exam. You have to cram for it.
Fresh: Dune is a huge, hollow, imaginative and cold sci-fi epic.
Fresh: It's not for everyone, but if you don't mind the brain-bending confusion of the plot and occasional feeling of '80s high camp, this isn't as bad as its detractors would have it.
The best sci-fi movie?
Possibly. First viewers, behold. This is no easy movie.
The underrated classic!!
This movie is a classic even though it is quite tough to understand what is going on at some points. The visuals are stunning especially the sandworms!!! The music by Toto is quite possibly one of the best soundtracks to a movie ever. A must see for Sci-Fi fans!!
Dune is a stunning masterpiece and sets a new standard for science fiction.
Herbert created a convincing universe in his novels, so vivid and detailed that one found it difficult to believe that they were imagined. Lynch then took it to the level of film, and, though not as elaborate as the books, his movie captures the themes, impressions, and story that makes Dune the standard of excellence among Science Fiction.
