Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Captivating, endearingly optimistic and magical at times, Steven Spielberg's fantasy about a stranded alien from outer space protected by three kids until it can arrange for passage home is certain to capture the imagination of the world's youth.
Fresh: What's perhaps most amazing about E.T., what distinguishes it from many of the other fantasy films of its era, is its ability to put an audience under a spell of childlike wonderment without infantilizing it.
Fresh: It holds up beautifully.
Fresh: It is the kind of film that young people are going to want to see again immediately after they've seen it.

like flashlights and walkie talkies instead of guns. I wanted the purists to know. Meh.
30 Years and Still Magic
I was Elliot's age when E.T. came out in the theaters. Then I wanted to be Elliot, to live such an adventure, to know that there was so much more out there in the universe, including friendship. What is remarkable about this movie 30 years later is how well it holds up. E.T. is truly is a timeless classic. The iTunes HD presentation is incredible on an Apple TV connected to my 40-inch television. While the extra detail sometimes makes the special effects less than seamless, this also allows you to truly appreciate how Steven Spielberg set up his shots. Frankly, it is breathtaking how the camera moves and how scenes are framed.
E.T. Is still one of the best movies ever made!
I first saw E.T. back in 1982 right before I turned 6 years old so I could barely remember the movie. Back then I did however have the official book which came with a record that was told by the very young Drew Barrymore. I used to just let my imagination run wild as i listed to the record and read the book with it. When I went to see the 30th anniversary at the theater last week I have to say once again I was so blown away. Watching it at the theater was one of the most amazing movie experiences of my life, cause it was as if I had never seen it and it brought out that little kid in me again. I remember back when this movie first came out in 1982 I had to have my E.T. cereal LOL. When Elliot and E.T. both got sick I had tears coming down my eyes and that happened more than once during the movie and Im a 35 year old guy, but this just touched me again and made me feel like I was the one loosing my new found best friend. If you saw this movie when you were a kid check it out again because it is truly one of the BEST Movie Experiences. Special thanks to the director Steven Spielberg for bringing E.T. back to us 30 years later and allowing me and the new generation in 2012 to feel like a care free kid again because it was well worth it. With the amazing quality and sound of blu-ray and the new digital copy we can now experience E.T. In the best way possible in our homes. Also this is the original unaltered version and not the one that upset so many die hard fans in 2002 with the 20th anniversary edition.
