About the Movie
In February of 2013, the Barnes Brothers attempted to shoot a documentary about the lives of Todd Snider, Elizabeth Cook and other touring songwriters residing in the burgeoning East Nashville neighborhood. They failed. Instead, drugs and booze took over. They ended up with: East Nashville Tonight.
Blind lemon pledge at his finest.
5 stars. Blind Lemon Pledge aka (the human bummer; sky Montana; loopy drag) may be the next big TV talk show producer. What a story it has been for the roommate of Todd Snider. Mr....pledge, was once so down and out that he applied for Steve Earles old job at MCA. Now, after successfully producing East Nashville tonight he is being highly recruited by all major networks. I think oprah's network is the front runner. This documentary takes you behind the scenes and gives you a first person POV of the struggles a tv producer can encounter.
Snider's Stoned Spotlight
Part music doc, part improvised comedy, East Nashville Tonight is a stand-out set against the East Nashville music scene. Guided by Todd Snider’s hazy and talented cast of characters, the Barnes Brothers bring us along for an unconventional stage-show, stoner-comedy hybrid that doesn’t fail to entertain.
I hope this is a bad joke
This movie is really bad. I have to think that they made it really
crap-tastic on purpose. The "acting" seems fake, like they are trying
to act normal, but are actually just acting "real" poorly. The entire
movie is slow and basically only about how messed up they get all the
time. I am no stranger to drugs. It's just not really that funny or
interesting to watch people sit around and "do drugs" for 90 minutes.
There are some well respected singer/songwriters in this film. I hope
that this is a joke that they think is funny. I don't think it makes
them look good and I don't think it makes East Nashville look that good
for that matter.
Really, I just hope I don't understand what they were doing here. I
also hope not very many people judge Nashville based on seeing this.
This is not the East Nashville I know.
