Rotten: A soundtrack in search of a movie, Empire Records is one teen-music effort that never finds a groove. – Ken Eisner, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: If the movie is a lost cause, it may at least showcase actors who have better things ahead of them. – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Overall, fatally ersatz but good natured at heart. – Trevor Johnston, Time Out, Aug 11, 2008

Original Theatrical Version ....

not the crappy "remix".

Remix fills in some plot holes

The remix version fills in some holes in the story and explains clearly why the characters were feeling the way they do.

HD version please

I love Empire Records, especially seeing the original version released, but it'd be so much better to see it in 1080p HD. Since it's an older movie shot on film, an HD upgrade will make a big difference.
