About the Movie

The man with the patch is back. Call him Snake. Kurt Russell rejoins filmmakers John Carpenter and Debra Hill to do to the Big Orange what they did to the Big Apple in Escape From New York – with even more futuristic thrills and slam-bang action! Into the 9.6-quaked Los Angeles of 2013 comes Snake Plissken (Russell). His job: wade through L.A.'s ruined landmarks to retrieve a doomsday device. Don't miss the excitement as Snake surfs Wilshire Blvd., shoots hoops at the Coliseum, dive bombs the Happy Kingdom theme park, and mixes it up with a wild assortment of friends, fiends and foes (Stacy Keach, Steve Buscemi, Peter Fonda, George Corraface, Cliff Robertson, Pam Grier and more). Escape From L.A. is a "go-for-broke action extravaganza!" (Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times).

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: As amusing as some of its notions may be, none are developed into sustained running jokes. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Fresh: Intermittently clever ideas are rarely executed to full effect, but the film moves reasonably well on its way to surround-sound pyrotechnics amid a climactic aerial attack. – Mike Clark, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Buscemi, Fonda, Robertson, Grier and many others get to make vivid impressions, but of course it's Russell who must carry this swiftly paced picture. As rugged as ever and attractively weathered, he does so with ease. – Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times, Feb 24, 2007

Rotten: Tries but fails to be an action-hero flick or even a parody of one. – Esther Iverem, Washington Post, Jun 24, 2010

Turn back while you still have money!

I have seen the DVD, and it was definetly NOT worth the $10.00. Please do yourself a favor and wait to BUY "Escape From New York", one of Kurt Russel's better movies.

Great Movie

This was a great movie. Better than the first because it was more creative and had more battles at the famous sights. John Carpenter was a genious. Hate to see one of my favorite cities in Ruins

Tongue-in-cheek all the way!

This is a hilarious movie, taking deadly aim at every LA icon that gets in the way. It is definitely worth checking out. It would be great if iTunes could obtain rights to sell Escape from New York because there are some references in LA that are missed if you haven't seen NY. Nonetheless, LA can still stand on its own as great satire. Make sure your mood is not too serious when you sit down to watch!
