Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: "Everest," in short, suffers from the same problem as Everest: overcrowding.
Fresh: A white-knuckle survival film with an outstanding cast.
Fresh: Everest takes an inordinate amount of time to get the pieces in place. However, once the group departs base camp and begins the ascent, the film sloughs off its slow pace and transforms into a gripping tale of survival, life, and death.
Fresh: For all the natural spectacle, the characters are what hold one's attention.
Very sad, inspiring movie...but read the book first
As you may know, this movie is based off the book "Into Thin Air". However, the movie is mostly about Rob Hall and Beck Wethers (might have spelled that wrong), and not John Krakour like the book. My one complaint is that the book is around 500 pages, and the movie barely covers it. The book is so much more detailed and in-depth someone watching this movie won't truly understand everything that went wrong during this expedition. So I highly recommend reading the book before watching the movie as it will help you understand the movie more. As for the movie, it is very good. The acting is great, the effects and 3D are outstanding and truly immersive. The music is wonderful, and the cinematography is beautiful. Overall great movie, but READ THE BOOK FIRST!
I normally don’t write reviews, but this movie is one of a kind. I am an experienced climber, and the scenes are technically flawless and accurate and everything makes perfect sense with no exaggeration, Its a must see, watch it now!!
Starts out slow but ends really sadly
I bought this movie because of all the amazing reviews and the exciting trailer. However, the movie really isn't "actiony" until the very end (which is also very sad). Overall, if you're going to buy this movie because of its action, don't do it.
